Customer Success Associate
MediaPact · Seattle, WA (hybrid) or Remote (PT / MT preferred)
TLDR
We are a Seattle startup building the marketplace where brands buy media directly from sellers. No middlemen, no six week email chains to buy a newsletter ad. You would be employee number one outside of the founder, which means you get to build the function instead of inheriting someone else’s playbook.
If you want a job where you shadow a manager for six months and update a spreadsheet, keep scrolling. If you want to be in the room where a company gets built, read on.
What MediaPact is
Buying flat fee direct media today is broken and very manual. A brand that wants a newsletter placement, a sponsored article, or a homepage takeover has to hunt down the right person at the publisher, negotiate over email, chase a contract, chase an invoice, and then chase a report. It takes weeks and sometimes the budget can’t be spent, so it gets left on the table.
MediaPact puts everything in one place: discovery, RFPs, offers and counters, contract signing, payment, and payouts. Buyers use it for free. Publishers pay a commission when they sell media via the platform.
Our sellers include names you already know: USA Today, Penske Media, Britannica, Apartment Therapy, and dozens more. Our buyers are brand marketers and agency media teams at companies you have definitely bought something from.
Timing matters because as AI answer engines replace traditional search, brands are realizing that showing up inside trusted editorial coverage is the new ballgame. We are the marketplace that makes that inventory buyable. We are early, we are growing, and the deals are flowing right now.
What you would do
You are extremely entrepreneurial and a go-getter. You are the human customers meet when they want to work on the platform, and you are the reason they stick around. You need to be incredibly trustworthy and excellent at building relationships.
-
Onboard new buyers and sellers. Get accounts set up, teams added, payment methods connected, and first placements live. You will run live walkthroughs over Meets with marketing teams.
-
Be at the front line. Answer questions in email, chat, and shared Slack channels. Some are easy. Some are weird. All of them get an answer fast.
-
Move deals forward. Nudge stalled offers, chase missing signatures, confirm campaigns went live, unblock payments. Revenue only happens when deals close, and you are a big part of making that happen.
-
Triage bugs like a detective. When something breaks, you reproduce it, document it clearly, and hand it to engineering with enough detail that it gets fixed the same day. Screenshots, steps, browser, account.
-
Build the self-serve layer. Help docs, FAQ portals, short Loom videos, onboarding email sequences. Every answer you write once is an answer you never have to write again.
-
Bring the field intel back. You will hear what customers love and what makes them rage quit before anyone else does. Say it out loud. We will act on it.
Who we are looking for
You do not need media experience. You do not need a marketing degree. You need to be sharp, curious, absolutely obsessed with the customer, and unbothered by ambiguity.
We care a lot about: You can explain a complicated thing simply. If you can teach your grandmother how to use Venmo, you can teach a media buyer how to send an offer. You write like a human. You know how to use AI, but don’t draft AI slop. You are prompt, reply within hours, not days. You figure things out before asking. You ask good questions. You are comfortable being the least experienced person in a room full of senior marketers.
Nice but not required:
- Any exposure to advertising, publishing, creator economy, or e commerce
- Comfort with tools like Slack, Google Workspace, and/or Claude Code
- A track record of building something from nothing: a club, a business, a newsletter, a following, whatever
Non negotiable: you have to love people. This role is talking to humans all day, listening intently and providing solutions.
Why this is a genuinely good first job
You will learn the whole business.
Media buying, publisher economics, contracts, payments, product, support, GTM. Here you see all of it.
You will work directly with the founder.
Lacie Thompson built and sold an eight figure marketing agency before starting MediaPact. She was an SVP at a major growth agency. She built this platform herself. You will be in her weekly rotation, not four layers away.
Your work will be visible immediately.
You will fix something on Tuesday and watch a customer close a deal because of it on Wednesday. That feedback loop is addictive and it is how people get good fast.
The ceiling is real.
Early customer hires at marketplaces grow into account management, partnerships, sales, and ops leadership. What this role becomes in eighteen months depends mostly on you.
You get equity.
You own a piece of what you help build.

How to apply
Email careers@mediapact.ai with your resume and a link to your LinkedIn profile. Instead of a cover letter, answer these two questions in a few sentences each:
- Explain something you know well to someone who knows nothing about it. Any topic. We want to see how you teach.
- Tell us about a time you figured something out with no instructions.
That is it. No portfolio, no essay, no five round gauntlet. We move fast and we will tell you either way.
